Four young students at an all–boy Catholic school meet to secretly read from a banned copy of Romeo & Juliet. Eventually they begin to ’act out’ the play in an attempt to fully understand its message and power, and the four of them PLAY ALL 22 ROLES, with only their imagination and a "sacred" piece of fabric that becomes EVERYTHING from TORCHES to SWORDS to BLOOD to POISON to even the famous BALCONY. The journey they take opens their eyes to a world they never truly understood beneath the dominating oppression of their upbringing, schooling and religion. Through the words of Shakespeare and the ’greatest love story in the English language,’ these students come to know themselves and how they truly feel about religion, conformity, gender roles, individuality, homophobia and, of course, the true and universal nature of Love. Hailed as "must see" theatre by the Arizona Republic, the East Valley Tribune and the Phoenix New Times, and WINNER of the ariZoni Theatre Award of Excellence for Best Director.
ALTHOUGH THE PLAY CONTAINS BRIEF NUDITY, IT IS RECOMMENDED FOR ADULTS AND MATURE TEENS (ACCOMPANIED BY THEIR PARENTS) WHO WISH TO EXPERIENCE A TRULY REMARKABLE EVENING OF THEATRICALITY.
